I feel better know. I made a STRIPES tile and didn't cheat.
Patterns: Henna Drum, 1/2 Wist, Nzeppel, Faux Weave, Jib, Balldox
This week's challenge: STRIPES! What comes to mind? Zebras. Well, that wasn't the idea. So I thought and thought and I just didn't know what to do. However, if you wait long enough and don't force the subject, your brain will jump into action and a solution will be found, says psychologist Susie Ng.
I cheated. I confess. Please everybody forgive me, I used the computer. Having said that, I drew the tile all by myself though, so I only cheated half a bit.
After the tile was drawn I took a picture, placed it in Photoshop, cut it into pieces... I mean STRIPES and then moved those STRIPES up and down, left and right. Tangles I used are Phicops, Starfish-Too, Icanthis (yes, the tangle I so hated when Joey chose it for her alphabet challenge letter "i" starter tangle and I then learned to love), Flux, my version of Praa, and Lapin (my own tangle) as border.
Patterns: Phicops, Starfish-Too, Icanthis, Flux, Praa. Lapin
And then I remembered I made once an A4 drawing of an image I found on the net, it was full of STRIPES. It was last year, in April. Still it counts, doesn't it? I haven't published it anywhere....yet.
Pattern: Stripes
Okay, I agree, it is a post made out of desperation, but it is a post and these are STRIPES!!! Wanna bet?
The second work shows "real" stripes and it is perfect for this challenge but the first one too.
ReplyDeleteI don't see any cheating, it is only using an interesting helpfull technique to create original stripes.
Composition is made by you, tangles are drawn and coloured by you. I love this gorgeous result!
Well, Ria, I still have sleepless night because I cheated. Maybe, just maybe, I will make an addition to this post. But thanks anyway for trying to lift my spirit.
DeleteXOXO
Both of them are great!!! ๐
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your kind words, Miss Nadjezdah. I saw your stripes spiral, what a wonderful drawing that is!!!! And another great idea outside the box.
DeleteNow, what a creative thing to do with a tile. Never thought of that. Great work!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Jean, for your kind comment, but I would call it a result out of desperation and lack of ideas.
DeleteGreat idea Susie!
ReplyDeleteHey Trudi, thanks for your positive comment. I feel a little bit better after your and all the above comments. Maybe I survive this challenge without too much shame. ๐
DeleteThis post out of desperation, shows us gorgeous tiles!!! I love the creativity of (especially) the first one and I will probably going to try something like that (I don't have Photoshop, so I have to find an other way). Thanks for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteOh Anne, you too make my day. Thanks so much for your uplifting comment. If you don't have Photoshop use scissors. Just kidding. LOL. I planed to use PS only to sketch where best I cut, but then I couldn't bring myself to actually cutting the tile. If you have no image cutting tool on your computer, try this site http://imagesplitter.net/ Maybe there are better ones out there and somebody knows and can provide a link?
DeleteSuper impressed with all of this - and now off to check out your tangle Lapin...which is just what I've been looking for as I become obsessed with Dingbatz. Axxx
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Annie, for your lovely comment. Have to admit, I really feel a LOT better having added that update tile. Enjoy Lapin.
DeleteThe grey tile is beautiful, drawing on grey backgrounds has always something special.
ReplyDeleteThe composition and chosen patterns are very nice, the same for the highlights and shadows. It's a little jewel but I won't say it's my favorite because I like the "cheated" one also and I can read, others agree and find this technique very interesting, worthwhile to try also. Thank you for sharing Suzy.
Oh Ria, no! It is the grey one, the sophisticated...elegant tile...the one at the top!
DeleteBut you know, since I made that grey tile I am feeling back in the Zen zone again. Honestly. Maybe Zen punishes tanglers who cheat, so watch out. ๐
Thanks, Ria, for dropping by again and have a splendid weekend.
I wonder what I enjoy most - your written post or your tiles?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Susan, I take that as a compliment. ๐ Honestly, it was really a headache week, but now that it is over, I can smile about it.
DeleteWonderful work! I love Photoshop and have actually "tangled" with the pen tool and found it almost as relaxing as using my Micron pen. But it doesn't last as long as the feeling I get after doing a tile IRL.
ReplyDeleteHi Tika and thanks for visiting my page and leaving our kind comment. Have you tried to make a brush from a tangle, e.g.: one Printemps spiral, and then set different options in the brush panel? Hmm, worth a try. But you are correct, hand-drawing tiles IRL2.
DeleteYou are too funny. No cheating, just applied creativity. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your wonderful comment on my cheat tile. I slowly start to accept that maybe my desperate move to stripe my tile wasn't that "off" after all. ๐
DeleteI love Lorna's description of "applied creativity "!! I would have never thought of creating your supposed cheat tile..... fabulous idea! I love the grey stripes tile... so striking with the white highlights. My favourite is the last... your drawing full of Stripes. Visually wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much for your supportive words on all three tiles. Sometimes, when your brain can't focus on the problem at hand, turn 180', walk away and start peeling potatoes. Believe me, in the middle of it a solution to the problem hits you and you clean up and get it done with renewed enthusiasm. You may cry after, but at least you can say you did it!
