New tangle: 4-Corner Corolla

Some time ago while surfing the Internet I came across a quilting pattern I thought looked very nice and even more importantly, is so easy. So finally I had time to play around with it and publish the step-out and a few samples and variations. It's name: 4-Corner Corolla.

4-Corner Corolla downgraded to 3-Corner Corolla. I divided a square into 4 squares, from the center I added a diagonal into each square to create 8 triangles. I drew two 3-Corner Corollas facing each other into each square - or one per triangle. Then I started to fill the tangle...

Note: With the thousands of tangles we have access to via the Internet, and daily new ones are created, we often cannot tell whether a tangle exists already. If 4-Corner Corolla already exists, please let me know and I will delete this post.

  1. Lovely tiles and a lovely new tangle! Congratulations, I 'm fond of the variation made with yellow and red, looks very special to me but I have to say the work you show us at the beginning and at the end is stunning!

    1. Thank you, Ria, for your very kind comment. It was super zenning to draw all those little lines in the first image. I didn't even noticed I was hungry till after the very last stroke.

    2. There is also another spirit: Don't think, just do it. Hence I got the IAST finally done.

  2. I like the 4 Corner Corolla. I have no idea whether it already exists as another tangle---which means that in my little world, you have first dibs. I'm having trouble figuring out your Parado with Corolla tile. Are there 2 of them and were the underlying shapes triangles? PS: The first new car we ever purchased was -- wait for it -- a Corolla.

    1. Hi Suzanne and thank you for your very kind comment. Is it possible you still remember our 4-wheel Corolla which must have looked similar to my 4-corner Corolla? That would explain the deja vu effect.😀
Joke aside. My 'Parado': 1 big square, divide it in 4 squares, divide each of the 4 squares with a diagonal from the center of the big one square or draw 2 diagonals into the big 1 square. Now you have 8 triangles. And you place 1 3-corner Corolla into each of them. Do I make sense? Let me know, I can always update my site with a sketch (which I probably should do anyway).
