GratiTangles 2020; Square One; Refreshers 216, 217, 218; 7F5R Tue & Fortnightly Challenges....

I barely survived last month's INKtober marathon challenge when I was swept into GratiTangles 2020 in November. I am a little bit overwhelmed so I decided that a) I pick the tangle prompts randomly and b) will draw monotangles or mix some days onto one tile.

GratiTangles 2020 day 3 - Fife....well, I changed it a bit hence it is Fake Fife...and I did it in a Phi grid, so I could call it Phi Fake Fife.

GratiTangles 2020 day 2 with tangle Fife in a Phi grid
Tangle Patterns: Fife

GratiTangles 2020 day 4 and 7 with tangles Ixorus and Auraknot respectively. Over night creepy Ixorus is sliding  its way out from under Auraknot and will probably land on top of it.

GratiTangles 2020 day 9, 20 and 24 with tangles  Mooka, Opus and Twing respectively.

GratiTangles 2020 day 7 and 17 with tangles Auraknot and Squid.

Tangle Patterns: Auraknot and Squid

GratiTangles 2020 day 30 with tangle Ing. This is pure Ing with all lines curved, 4 strands of it. Once it was in this state I  put a transparent sheet over it to check how best I can add to it, make it more dramatic, but... Sometimes less is more.

Tangle Pattern: Ing

GratiTangles 2020 day 10 with Rain...camouflaged within leaves. Or maybe this is a new tangle? I could call it Rainfall? Like leaves are falling in the rain?

Tangle Pattern: Rain

GratiTangles 2020 day 26 with tangle Rumpus. Rumpus is not one of my favorites somehow. Maybe because it is a ball of messy stuff in it. So I tore mine apart. Now I call this "new" tangle "Rumpus Asunder".

GratiTangles 2020 day 26 with tangle Rumpus.
Tangle Pattern: Rumpus Asunder

And this is day 11 in GratiTangles 2020 with tangle Betweed. I had no real idea what I was going to do with this tangle so I started drawing tubes. When I approached the finishing line I realized I made a huge mistake: I should have drawn this tangle on a blue tile! As it is, the tubes turned very much into sea sponges. Watch below 30 second video.

GratiTangles 2020 day 11 with tangle Betweed as sea Sponges - Update: Drunk Betweed
Tangle Pattern: Betweed UPDATE: Drunk Betweed

These sponges are considered oceans vacuum cleaners. If you have never personally seen them, let alone in action, watch this interesting demonstration on this YouTube video (30 seconds).

I posted this Betweed tile in the Facebook group Anything Goes - Tangled Art For Everyone when I had 2 surprise reactions. Ljerka Ledenko asked permission to try my tile, which I gladly granted. An instant later I found this wonderful tile by Ljerka in the comments. I thoroughly love it! ...

Drunk Betweed curtesy Ljerka Ledenko.

...and PeteR Grantham was sure, this new version of Betweed deserves an extra name. So Ljerka came up with Drunk Betweed. I liked it and thus it is now 'Drunk Betweed'. Thanks Ljerka for drawing this wonderful tile and the name and thanks to PeteR for suggesting a new name should be thought out.

GratiTangles 2020 day 28 with tangle Cyme - speak 'see-me'. I learnt that from Pat Mathes over at FB group ZIA Tips, Tricks, and Techniques that runs the GratiTangles 2020 inspirational challenge.

Tangle Pattern: Cyme

GratiTangles 2020 day 14 with tangle Goudgeous, and 7F5R Tusday challenges Nov 17 with Zinger and Nov 24 with SeZ squeezed in while kept simple. I only just started doing 7F5R challenges with the Staghorn tile below being my first one, or better, an apology tile because I placed GratiTangles tiles in their FB group and was asked to remove them, which I did. A few hours later I got another message now allowing GratiTangle tiles being published in their group. Oh, well, next year maybe. Meanwhile I check in with 7F5R every week for a new challenge prompt.

Tangle Patterns: Gourdgeous, SeZ, Zinger

GratiTangles 2020 day 14 with yet another Gourdgeous tangle, day 29 with Keeko and a very altered Vega as a sub GratiTangle suggestion. Then in the FB Group Square One Purely Zentangle from Nov 13-19 we had the tangle Walkthrough.

My first tangle for 7F5R (7 Forests 5 Rivers) Tuesday's challenge. The November 3 challenge features a tangle called StagHorn - the white lines inside the black spaces. I point it out because when I uploaded it in the corresponding FB group Debbie E. New, the tangle's author, didn't recognize her own tangle at first.

7F5R Fortnightly Theme Nov 16, 2020: the tangle Luminesque. I didn't like the Christmassy tile so much so I made an almost monotile with Luminesque, accompanied only by Javik.

Inspired by... the new tangle Flow Leaves by Miranda Gerber garnished with Mooka and Tipple. If you think it is a bit too colorful...this tile is dedicated to my friend Uschi in Switzerland who loves colored artwork. Uschi, I hope this cheers you up a bit....and if only for a minute or two. Thinkin of you and Meredith.

Time to Kill

Here the last puzzles of set 1, 21-24. As usual an example with this SANDBOX hint. All results at the bottom of this post in the smallest, tiniest type just in case you accidentally scroll down and read what you didn't wanted to read just yet.

And here the new puzzles. Good luck.

Animal Happy Day

Sometimes a rescue may take years and you may ask why bother. The answer: because in the end it is totally worth it. Here is the case of Nina, a blind scared pup, with the best gift to the rescuer Viktor Larkhill.

Thank you for visiting my page. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving with all your family members together. Maybe you even considered inviting that lonely neighbor next door... ???

Killing Time

Here comes the 4th puzzle challenge. Again, the first image reads SANDBOX and is your clue on how to solve images 17-20. Solution are found at the very end of this post.

Animal Happy Day

In my last post I announced this video about Viktor Larkhill's rescue of Huckleberry in Turkey. What went wrong? I am a cry-baby when things go wrong with animals. And now, typing only this few words make me remember everything again and the waterworks flow. Please click. Thanks.

Inktober 2020, Octangling 2020, or TangleTober 2020...I Love them All Day 1-15 (part 1 of 2)

It's that time of year again....INKTOBER. It is the 3rd time I participate on this challenge. 31 days, 31 prompts...eh, no. Not quite. This challenge has grown roots and nowadays several lists are published by tanglers.

The prompt lists are...

1. The Jake Parker (jp) Inktober 2020 list. He is the founder of this challenge and his prompts for the days can by anything you can spell.
2. The Stephanie Jennifer (sj) Inktober Tangles 2020 list. She is a tangler from my area, Singapore, and her listing comprises of tangle names.
3. The Tangle All Around (taa) Octangling 2020 list. This is a Zentangle FB group
4. The Pattern-Collection (pc) list. I think they call the list New-Tober. Pattern Collection, as its name tells, is also a very good source for tangle stepouts.
5. And last but not least the Silke Wagner (sw) TangleTober 2020 list. Her prompts are similar to Jake Parkers.

Day 1 - Fish (jp), Flux (sj), and Jester (taa).

Tangle Patterns: Jester, Flux - Fish

Day 2 - Wisp (jp), Jackstripes (sj), Snelly (taa), Ondalina (pc)

Tangle Patterns: Jackstripes, Snelly, Ondalina - Wisp

Day 3 - Bulky (jp), Anthem (sj), Siri (taa), Pianorondo (pc). You maybe be wondering where the 'Bulky' comes in. Well, the black Anthems. Don't they look a bit 'bulky'. Anyway, as my German tangler friend would say: it is what it is.

Tangle Patterns: Anthem, Siri, Pianorondo - Bulky

Day 4 - Unbirthday (sj), Meshmerize (taa), FloralySs (pc), Dots (sw)

Day 6 - Henna Drum (sj), Brandywine (taa), Katerpy (pc)...and sadly no Rodent (jp) and no Root (sw).

Inktober 2020 day 6 with tangles Henna Drum, Brandywine, and Katerpy
Tangle Patterns: Henna Drum, Brandywine, Katerpy

Day 7 - Doodah (sj), Twisted Corners (taa), TingTing (pc) and a bit of (TingTing) Fancy (jp).

I posted this tile on Facebook and it was amazing how many different things tanglers saw in the illustration. I see a Fish! And a Squid! I see an Elephant! Reminds me of Salvador Dali's "Persistence of Memory", the melting clock faces. I see people dancing the tango... Nothing was intended and everything I can see, too. Can you?

Tangle Patterns: Doodah, Twisted Corners, TingTing - Fancy

Day 8 - Amarin (sj), Divi (taa), Celtik Around (pc) and there are 3 teeth (jp) somewhere on the tile, too.

Tangle Patterns: Divi, Starfish-Too, Maize - Boat

Day 12 - Bosch (sj), OyBay (taa), Dolmania (pc), Rose (sw). I am in the cellar looking for my mojo, it certainly is not in the attic. Yes, my creativity has dropped into a black hole probably.

Inktober 2020 Day 12 with tangles Bosch, OyBay, Dolmania - Rose
Tangle Patterns: Bosch, OyBay, Dolmania - Rose

Day 13 - Waybop (sj), Borbz (taa), Florious (pc). Here I follow the KISS method, Keep It Simple, Stupid. In any case, this, for me, is a real Zentangle classic tile.   {...and still no mojo}

Inktober 2020 Day 13 with tangles Waybop, Borbz, Florious
Tangle Patterns: Waybop, Borbz, Florious

Day 14 - Iugo (sj), Beauchamp (taa), Rota Mirrored (pc), Musically (sw).

Tangle Patterns: Iugo, Beauchamp, Rota Mirrored - Musically

Day 15 - Monotangle tile with Abukas (sj).

And here my Inktober Inter-tangle-mezzo tile for half-time, October 15 1/2. Actually I started this tile way before Inktober 2020, but never got a round tuit. The lined flower inspiration came from Kaeyoshino, a Japanese artist on Instagram.

Tangle Patterns: Flux, lined flowers

Killing Time

...and thus goes on my puzzle series. If you have missed the previous ones, refer to my last two posts. Here my clue to how it works. First below image reads: SANDBOX; now figure out 12-16. I know, it gets more and more difficult, but remember, solutions are at bottom of this post. You can always peak.

Have fun!

Animal Happy Day

This is maybe not the kind of animal video I usually post, but .... well, please click and watch it!!! And it made me sadly happy that I am a tiny part of it. Sadly because I wished this all wasn't necessary. I wished our human race was particular kind to all (!) animals. But we are not and thus people like Viktor have these kind of paper collections.

Please click and watch! Thanks

In my next post I will publish a video about this little abandoned puppy freezing to death in Turkey. He was rescued, but there is where his luck ended. The story behind his short life is something I have never heard of. So stay tuned...

C.O. is well and so am I. However, I cannot say the same about the weather. Rainy, cold, clammy, greyish, unpleasant, depressing...I have no idea what I did to insult it so. But who wants to talk about the weather. So have a nice 2nd part of Inktober 2020. I have seen so many incredible tiles on facebook and instagram. Tanglers are fired up!
