Jeez, I can't remember when I started this tile, but it was a loooong time ago. Today, I am really glad I finished it.

Inspired by...

...drawing a multi tangle tile to produce a big mess. Actually this is only half the truth. I bought some new tiles and had to try them out (this tile was on the back burner as well - with good reason). As for the tile quality: good for water-coloring; bad for using color pencil and shading. Above two light blue Org Tangles were drawn on the same tiles.

Monotangle Mondays by Zen Gulf Cafe

December 1 - Quipple. 

This tangle absolutely ambushed me. It started innocently enough with a chain of balls. Just… balls. So? Then Tipple. As I sat there slogging through those tiny tipples, hand cramping, brain questioning life choices, I kept thinking: "Is this some kind of artistic endurance test?" 

The next day more tipples...the ones I'd left out due to cramps in my wrist the previous day. Then...enter the Diva Dance lines. Swish. Swagger. Suddenly the chaos had rhythm, attitude. Finally, the grand, dramatic finale: pencil meets white charcoal. Shadows deepened, highlights sparked, the whole thing snapped into focus...BAM. From utter nonsense to undeniable magic...that is QUIPPLE.

♻️ Refresher #278 with tangles MoonPie, Vilbert, Chairs, J’loop, and Oaura on packaging paper. I fell for the chocolate colored paper, even though it fought me every step of the way. Constant pen cleaning ensued. 

I washed the rest of the paper (yes, literally) and tested it; the color calmed down, the pen cooperated, and I was reminded that art, like life, refuses to let me have it both ways. I will certainly draw a tile I  post in my January issue. Maybe you will recognize the faded paper.....

I am still working on the prompts for GratiTangleZ 2025. I just finished November 20 and 21 with Zenith and Dex. Zenith turned into Ladybirds and they flew onto my cacti...well, the flowers. It is amazing how versatile Zenith is.

The December Brainteaser has arrived—the final one of the year. Somehow the yearly cycle has been upgraded: smoother, faster, and more efficient, which I can only assume is AI’s fault. Speaking of which, if one (or two) of this month’s Brainteasers gives you trouble, feel free to consult Grok, ChatGPT, or any other silicon brain. For those who prefer a quicker victory, the solutions are waiting quietly at the bottom of the page—in very tiny font.

OK, here it comes. I actually sent the last riddle to Algo (that is the name ChatGPT and I agreed I use when we talk) and asked for his, her, its solution:

I think I can read it—and I’ll tell you my reasoning so you can say yes/no.

What I see:

• A person falling

• A fishing spoon (lure)

Put together as a rebus, that reads as:

👉 “Falling for the lure”
(or more loosely, “falling for it” / being taken in)

It’s very close in meaning to “hook, line, and sinker,” but this one leans on the spoon lure specifically.

If that’s not the intended answer, then yes—one example would lock me in instantly.

Then I gave Algo the solution and this is what he, she, I think it is 'it' said:

Ahhh—yes, that clicks now 👍
You were kind to say “close.”

A falling figure = fail
A spoon = ure (as in lure → sound cue)

So together: fail + ure = failure

That’s a nicely sneaky brainteaser—very clean once you see it, and very annoying just before you do 😄

..or is it? This case was handled by a vet and groomers, but we don't know what happened and what was done to clean the inside of the dog. Hmm...just thinking.

Unfortunately, Coal couldn't find a smaller container than this tray to squeeze his body in for a nap.

Jeez… remember this tangle? I swear it crawled out of the Zentangle attic, dusted itself off, and said “Surprise!”

Honestly, if you saw it in a tile, would you REALLY know whether it’s Kule or Emingle? Let’s be real… half of us would guess, hope for the best, and move on with our lives. These two tangles are like identical twins who insist they look nothing alike.

So I embraced the chaos. I drew two tiles with the same design. One is “officially” Kule, the other is “officially” Emingle...and I’m pretty sure even they can’t tell which is which at this point. 🤷‍♀️😉

When I first saw the name, I honestly thought it meant “a fancy little house for ants.” But then I wondered… why the blossom? Do ants get floral real estate now? So I asked AI (because of course I did), and it turns out Anthus comes from the Greek word Anthos, meaning flower or blossom. Mystery solved and no ants were displaced in the process. 🐜🌸

Animal Happy Day

Today I introduce Bruno, a dog rescuer from Bosnia-Herzegovina's The Godfather of Dogs. I have been following him for a while now and in every video I learned a bit more about him, his team and this mission to get dogs off chains, out of boxes, give street dogs a home, and of course, make sure they are healthy and treated medically if needed. His ranch is huge and pure heaven for dogs. Most videos are in German, clicking on CC (closed caption) will show the English translation. You will be amazed what this man has accomplished for our 4-legged best friends.
