An Intense Paradox Infection; a few Inspired by...tiles; New Tangles Kelp I.Am & SiBai I.Am; and a tip on how to kill boredom during the Covit lockdown...

...at least for a few minutes. But first things first.

I am heavily infected, but it is a different kind of virus (= not Covit19 or the one that causes Dengue, which tours the infamous - now empty - tourist city Pattaya as well). The doctor assured me that I will survive it unscathed despite the high number of my age, but that my mind will still be crowded with the thought of it for some time to come after convalescing. The virus is called "PARADOX"!

BE WARNED! The suffering is a lot of fun, absolutely fantastic and you will love and enjoy every gratifying minute of it. So stay clear of the Paradox virus.

(You can find some of the Paradox strings at the end of the Paradox section)

♻️ Tile first infection is Paradox free-style on a recycled packaging cardboard tile.

The classic tangle Paradox
Tangle Pattern: Paradox

This Paradox attack was supported by Betweed (on a water colored background tile).

This tile shows the result of a rather mild Paradox virus attack. Still, I enjoyed it while it lasted. Meet the Paradox "Trees" tile.

This is one of my favorite infections: Paradox with A-Dalfa.

Another free-style Paradox tile with Kelp I.Am, Boulder Builder, Strutz and Jag. This bookmark style tile I started in the middle and I added triangles to both sides until I had to make the decision which side is up/down. The decision was quick once the new tangle Jag was introduced by tanglepatterns.com.

Here the Paradox virus hides itself in "The Mask". The tangles Fescu, Clob, and Denma help camouflaging Paradox. They are doing a great job! Time appropriate as well as ancient, reminding me of the Vientiane Carnival.

In this tile Paradox, in circles and leaves, has added some extra lines and garnished its surrounding with Tipple and Crescent Moon.

♻️ This tile I cut out of a Baygon mosquito coil packaging. I admit, here the virus has lamed my brain. For several days I had no clue how to finish the awkward paradox shapes. I added this and that and another this and that over too many days, but finally had my tile full to the rim and I could sign it off. (Thank heavens!) Added tangles are: Phicops, Beadlines, and Veezy.

Tangle Patterns: Paradox, Phicops, Beadlines, Veezy

A mess with a Paradox vine. Tangles causing the mess are Amaze (or Stiritup), Knightsbridge, Boulder Builder, Tipple. Trying to safe the mess is Henna Drum. Thank you, Henna Drum.

Paradox 3D on my surprise 1-day-blooming-only water plant flower. I couldn't resist, there is an early morning taken image of the flower towards the end of this post.
A string overlay over the Paradox 3D tile is among the strings below.

♻️ The final Paradox tile, drawn on the inside of an 'Equal Cafe Caramel Latte" cardboard box, aptly called "Paradox Out of the Box". Literally! Proof is below on the string/paradox lines overlay tile.

'Inspired by...' continues...

I drew my first 'copy-cat' tile last month (previous post) with Zentangle HQ's KTT 31. I thoroughly enjoyed following someone else's drawing and relished the result. Now, that I have 'smelled blood', I went in searched for another victim I can copy.

Emiko Kaneko. I knew the stakes were high, too high as I soon realized. But then, if you don't try...

This tile is my version of her 'Tangling and shading Zentangle' video series in her YouTube channel. The tangles I used are Mezzanine, Joki, SeZ, Sistar, Flux, and IcanToo.

Inspired by...No, this is better described as 'Reminiscing my time'...as a SCUBA diving instructor. A swarm of fish, string rays, soft and hard corals, my bubbles, and feeling safe from the bad weather lurking on the surface. Tangles: Dewdy-leaf kelp, an Indy-Rella fish swarm, bubbling Emo-coral-balls, Sting Rayz, and Angelfish sea-fans. I noticed I needed a filler tangle at the bottom left that would glide smoothly into Dewd, but couldn't find one. Thus my new tangle Kelp I.Am was born.

Inspired by...a new pattern I noticed on Pattern Collections called Windmoon by Uttara Shidore. It looked quite intriguing. I love challenging patterns especially when they are geometric. There is a logical way to approach them...similar to solving a Sudoku puzzle.

I stumbled over a tile in Pinterest I just had to recreate. Except for Printemps (on-a-Stick) and maybe Clob there are no further tangles involved and that is quite alright. I liked the overall design of it.

Animal Happy Day

The other day I was looking for C.O. knowing he must be around the house somewhere...

...Here is where I found him.

As for my video choice for this post. Calm....ing!!! This is not about our usual pets may they be dogs or cats or even farm animals. No, it is about more. As she says in this video, saving humankind.

Anti-Boredom Therapy and Odd Ends

Are you sitting at home feeling bored at times? I found a site that might keep you interested for a few minutes. Stereograms. I always loved to see the 3D image hidden in the flat color mess image in front of me. Once you figured out the trick  to see the 3D shapes and words the mess contained you can hardly stop jumping to the next messy image. This is a simple one I made myself with the tool available on the Stereogram site Hiden-3D. Have fun! If you have never seen this kind of 'entertainment', there is a 'how to' on their site.

Click on the image to make it larger.

This 26 July Sunday morning, when I did my usual early morning round through my garden, I came across a little surprise: my water plant, which I got from my Chinese hardware shop guy, sported a beautiful blue flower. Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected that!

May you adapt easily to this new world of ours. Who would have thought that this drastic of change can happen that quickly and include the whole world.

Take care you all and thanks for visiting.

Refreshers 211, 212, 213; KTT 31; Inspired by...many tangles

My "Inspired by..." series continues...

"Inspired by..." the new tangle called Ayame by Emiko Kaneko.

Inspired by...Ayame with Pokeroot, Indy-Rella
Tangle Patterns: Ayame with Pokeroot, Indy-Rella

Inspired by...another new tangle pattern called Amazing Spider by Hennie Brouwer. I drew it in a wonky grid and added by the tangles Philoxy and a sort of Inaflux. At first, I didn't know what would look better big shaded fields or blacked out so I made both. Now, after looking at it for a few days, I prefer blacked out. More dramatic.

Inspired by...Amazing Spider, Philoxy, Inaflux, Tipple
Tangle Patterns: Amazing Spider, Philoxy, Inaflux, Tipple

Inspired by...Zeez, a tangle used in Refresher #212. Sometimes it is the simplest things that catch our undivided attention. I enriched Zeez with a bit of Zinger and the 1 or 2 or, as in this case, 3 Cruffles.

Inspired by...Zeez, Zinger, Cruffle
Tangle Patterns: Zeez, Zinger, Cruffle

Inspired by---Amazing Spider. There you have it, yet another Amazing Spider tile. Sometimes new tangles are published and all you can do is think of 'what else can I do with it'. Actually, I planned to just do a normal Amazing Spider tile, everything as it is supposed to be done. I failed. I added some flowers, petals, a Gourdgeous veggie and some Split-Pokeroots.

Inspired by...Amazing Spider, Gourdgeous, (Split) Pokeroot and Flower/Petals;
Tangle Patterns: Amazing Spider, Gourdgeous, Split-Pokeroot

Inspired by...3 new tangles: Fenoglio, Kemistri, Zipp! I had to try them out right away. Fore-up there is Fenoglio, a tulip like tangle by Annett Ruemples. If you want the Fenoglio stepout - and stepouts for many many more tangles, but don't know yet Musterquelle.de...  Then there are Kemistri and Zipp. Actually I made Kemistri the vehicle for Zipp. Kemistri is a round, endless leafy tangle by Sue Bailey and recently published by Tanglepatterns.com. As for the last one, Zipp, I am not sure you can find it in any of the tangle databases online - yet. While I was checking out Annett's stepout for Fenoglio on her website I also visited her entry page to all her patterns. Besides Zipp I found many other interesting tangles I have not yet come across, or, maybe missed. You may want to have a look yourself.... The whole tile needed some filling so I added leaves. If those tiny leaves are a tangle, sorry, I am not aware of it.

Inspired by...Fenoglio, Kemistri, Zipp
Tangle Patterns: Fenoglio, Kemistri, Zipp

And then there is Jayce-May-Bend and Jayce-May-Bend 2. The originals look very different to mine, but these are "inspired by..." versions and inspired I was. First the Jayce-May-Bend. I drew 2 tiles using the same string. Here with Vilbert, Hollibaugh, and Ripped Screen.

And Jayce-May-Bend 2.

Inspired by...the new tangle Twisted by Hennie Brouwer. Luckily there are no mistakes in tangling....huff, puff. Yeap, this was a bit tricky. As in her stepout sample I also used Knightsbridge, but as a background.

Inspired by...Twisted, Knightsbridge
Tangle Patterns: Twisted, Knightsbridge

Although I have been familiar with Zentangle HQ's series Kitchen Table Tiles (KTT) this is the first I 'copied' off their video (a case of nothing else to do?). So here my copy of their KTT 31: Aquafluer and Scena Tangleation.

Animal Very Happy Day

Just a normal day in the park....

Caught in the action: C.O. working out...

Greetings from presently rainy but still beautiful Thailand!
Thanks for visiting and may you have the best July possible. Here in Thailand more doors are opening up, but temperature checks with hand disinfectant bottles and sign-in sheets have become our normal....

Refresher 209 and 210; Daily Pattern Focus; and Inspired by...

I believe this to be my first Pattern-Collections Daily Pattern Focus Tile. This is ValFlower listed for Feb 10, a suggested tangle for the Valentine 2020 countdown to Feb 14th.

Another PCDPF that captured my interest was this very simple tangle Tropflis. It is simple, but when you embellish it a bit (2nd tile), it looks really quite interesting.

Inspired by...continues. Here I fell in love with the new tangle FountainFlower by Ina Sonnenmoser and I added yet another new tangle by her: Whirligig, making them look like FountainFlower's leaves. Then I checked FB's #focusstudy where I noticed Quare. Sunz came into the game as well, but I have no idea anymore where I found it. And finally I had to incorporate the new Bellah by Beatrice Aronas; such an interesting little tangle with lots of possibilities.

Refresher #209 published on Valentines day on a distressed paper tile. This is one of those tiles I cut out and then end up with left-overs as above. OMG! My heart was not in this one. I had to step away from this tile hundreds of times until the interest thread tore. Sorry, #209. The tangles for this tile were: Scena, Leading Heart, Membranart, Mountain, and Harey.

Refresher #210 with tangle pack Static, Terra, Double Marasu, Petals, Wooooooo, or my Zentangle warm-up tile, or my worst tile ever. All 3 answers are correct. It is my first tile after a month or more laying low. Tja, sometimes circumstances mess with you and no, it is not covit-19 although this virus is no fun either to say the least. However, I believe the restrictions bestowed upon us are 'slightly' overdone. Time will tell. In the meantime no Corona beer for me anymore!

Animal Happy Day

I think we all have a weak spot for an animal rescues when that rescue happens in the country you live. So here my chosen animal rescue video that happened in Thailand.

And since we are talking about 'countries' here is another one I am happy about. This concerns Spain, a country lawless of animal protection. I sent an email to one of the local rescues I support and...  Well, here is his fantastic, totally unexpected positive reply. Love you, Viktor.

Meanwhile C.O. - my cat - enjoys his daily excursions in the neighborhood and parties deep into the night with friends never introduces to me. He completely ignores the governmental imposed 10 PM - 4 AM curfew, the 'no social gathering' warnings with its 1-2 m distance keeping implementations, and he totally refuses to wear a mask and disinfect his paws when coming home. So far he was lucky...no jail for him yet. Touch wood!

Because I don't want to be woken up in the middle of the night when he meaws to request entry I decided to leave the bedroom mosquito net window open so he can help himself for a quiet coming home entry. Well, that was the plan. However, I made the plan without CO. So here he is in the middle of the night having fun telling me: 'Honey, I'm ho-ome!'

I am thinking about renaming C.O. to Pasha!

"Good nite, you good people, and when you leave this page, please click lightly with your mouse on the browser tap so you won't wake me. Thank you."

Refreshers 207, 208; an early and new Valentine Tangle, and lots of Inspired by...

Happy Valentine's Day. OK - so I am no Valentine's Day person and no heart shape enthusiast and here I am drawing my new Hearty I.Am tangle pattern tile. It probably already exists or something very similar - honestly, how many different ways can you draw a heart shape?. If you want to enlighten me, please do so and leave a comment or send me an email.

Inspired by...

As mentioned in my previous post I still have these left over paper slips from cutting 9x9 cm Zentangle tiles from a block. Instead of throwing them away as I usually do I decided to use them to try out tangles and techniques - well, use them to experiment a bit.

Scrolling through facebook I came across a post by Simone Silberberg and instantly thought, I have to try that. With water colored pencils she painted backgrounds on small tiles, brushed them clean with water and when dry, drew tangles on top of them. On my tile I drew lots of pencil lines across the tile and started to 'Nzeppel' the spaces these line crossings created.

Water color pencil background and Nzeppel
Tangle Pattern: Nzeppel

On this tile I used the January 4th Daily Focus tangle 'Jewel' suggested by the Pattern-Collection January 2020 page.

Daily Pattern Focus Jan 4 - Jewel with Molygon
Tangle Patterns: Jewel, Molygon

I saw them so many times on the net - whole tiles covered with lined petals - but never got a round tuit. So finally I got one. This tile is done all in pencil and I had to be real careful not to shade too heavily.

Just lines
Tangle Pattern: none really, just lines

The first time (I think) I am inspired by....no, rather have time for...doing a Liz Drake #FocusStudy in Facebook's ZIA Tips, Tricks, and Techniques. Liz came down with a cold, but was able to publish all her daily prompts for the week January 6-10. So I had a choice of tangles and decided to used MI2 for the base grid, Mazorito as its filler and Moving Day as Mazorito's filler pattern. Just like a Russian Doll; a tangle inside a tangle inside a tangle.

Square One week 6-10 with tangles MI2, Mazorito, Moving Day
Tangle Patterns: MI2, Mazorito, Moving Day

Another inspired by... tile I always wanted to do was a tile with leaves and a river flowing through. Well, my 'river' are tectonic mini plates made using the tangle Neuron. The leaves are filled with Striping and Tipple.

Inspired by - Leaves with tangle Neuron, Striping and Tipple
Tangle Patterns: Neuron, Striping, Tipple

...Olipze. Olipze is a tangle that is listed in Refresher #207 (below). I admit it haunted me. I got a headache trying to draw it. However, we tanglers never give up and so I sketched it over and over again until it finally clicked. And as it often happens once you figured it out you fall in love with it to the point where the tangle  mentally captures you like an imaginary octopus with 8 arms and you are compelled to draw it again and again. Thus "Inspired by...Olipze".

Inspired by...Olipze
Tangle Pattern:  Olipze

Refresher #207 with my above mentioned brain-crusher Olipze. The tangles for this refresher were: Rumpus, Wrapped, Septembies, Clob, and the now famous Olipze. Clob I put into Rumpus leaves and the best feature of the tile is probably the coffee stain.

Off the Topic

OK, so yet another mention in my previous post was about me being an exercise chunky working in gyms. Tell you what, had I come across this treadmill exercise I would have been the first to have a go at it, however, probably doing more likely steps like grapevines, kneelifts, mambos and hamstring curls.

Animal Happy Day

Animal babies are oh! so smart!

And this is C.O., my roommate, after an all nighter out partying with friends. Yes, indeed, he slept all day tossing and turning until 4 pm (I am not kidding!) probably suffering from a monstrous hangover. Serves you right, C.O.! I was worried, calling out for you until past midnight.

Thanks so much for visiting, everybody, and I wish all
the most romantic Valentine's Day yet.
