A) A new website. Joey managed to cleverly rebuild it the same way as the old one still looks, so no 'getting used to' and 'wasting time finding' period, but instant familiarity. Well done, Joey! ...and I like the new banner image, too!
B) A new challenge, #178, using tangle African Artist and with a twist to it, too. I call it the 9er Mosaic FMT challenge and here is why:
So here is what I am going to do: no border; smaller (7x7cm) grey tiles, unfortunately very rough tiles, but somebody has to make use of the paper; and in the end glue them all together on a bigger piece of paper to get the border. My string in blue represents the Danube river that weaves and will weave its way through my tiles and Germany. I was inspired by my neighbor's recent visit to Germany where he made a several day bicycle tour and bonding trip with his son along the upper part of the Danube to enjoy nature in all its beauty. (see images below).Small A) 9er = the challenge will last over a period of 9 weeks (9er!) and includes 9 tiles (9er! got it?) which we arrange in a 3x3 square and draw a continuous string over all.
Small B) Mosaic = well, in the end this then looks like a mosaic...or should look like a mosaic. This still remains to be seen in my case.
Small C) FMT = Finish My Tile (remember? All her challenges run under this general theme name).
So, without further ado here tile number one of my Danube Bicycle Trip for the 9er Mosaic FMT #178 Challenge...

such beautiful line work. african artist is a favorite tangle for me. i love your version and the combination with other tangles, and the ginko leaves!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comment, Meridiana. I hope your wrist is getting better. A first for me with AA, but I didn't quite hit it right. Oh well, practice will get me there.
DeleteBeautiful tile! I love what you did with African Artist, combining it with these tangles.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ilse, for your kind comment. I just added what jumped to mind and usually these are the tangles I did recently. I am one of those who much prefers somebody told me what tangles to draw.
DeleteGorgeous start of a wonderful challenge. I like your tile very much, well balanced and as usual, fantastic colours. I'm very curious to see the 8 ones who gonna follow and of cours the finalresult!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Ria, and thanks so much for your kind comment. You are not the only one who wonders what the end effect will be. I placed tile #9 smack dab in the middle. Now I regret that decision, but I have already made transitions to it, so no can go back. Ouch!
DeleteI think, you can choose the tiles in the direction you wanted them to have. The final result must be a big "work" of 9 tiles but in which order you draw your tiles, that will not be a problem at all.
ReplyDeleteHa, your words in God's ear, Ria. When you have the middle tile as #9, you are connected to ALL of the other 8 tiles. That means with each tile I have to add 'transition' or 'continuous' lines to this #9 tile. 8 surrounding tiles = trans lines to 4 corners and 4 sides. MY #9 will be very crowded in the end - and very messy. π
DeleteThat happens when you think you are the clever one.ππππππ
A beautiful start to your 9er challenge Susie! Glad you like the new blog, the header photo is a work-in-progress painting. So much to finish, so little time!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joey, for your kind comment and for this challenging challenge. Thus far, all participants can say: so far so good!!π And good luck with your site-in-progress. Like everything, this, too, will be a thing of the past and no longer nag you every (other-other) waking hour.
DeleteWhow! Great start for Joey´s challenge! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your more than kind comment, Anita. You are right, it is a start, but it has already led to a full fledged headache every time I think about the other 8 tiles.
