IAST 284; DIVA 387; Botani19; Zenuari2019, Square One; and Inspired by...

"Botani-Tangles 2019" is a challenge for the month of March and the prompts given are flower or flowery/leafy tangles to honor Springtime. Created by Lucy Farran, The Lucky Tangler, I was introduced to this challenge by Ragged Ray's recent post (Thanks, Jem).

So for day 1-3 we got Hollyhock, Loblolly, Sanibelle

Botani-tangles day 1-3 with Hollyhock, Loblolly, Sanibelle
Tangle Patterns: Hollyhock, Loblolly, Sanibelle

Inspied by... Hollyhock. Yet another vine, another bookmark tile, but it is either that or throw the cut-offs away and waste good paper.

Botani-tangles 2019 prompts for day 13-15 - Podz, Nymph, Girlande. I picked this day sequence early on because I thought that was an easy tangle combination. Wow! Was I wrong! It was like having two left hands and I am right-handed. I spare you the first tile so here the 2nd ...

...and the 3rd. Maybe the tangle Girlande makes the tile more acceptable.

Inspired by...Repeat Pattern Stacks. It is NOT a Botani Tangle, but I had a reminder out that I should try to dirty a tile with a wet tea bag. So I did and it got rather dark. Plus I am still working on getting rid of my left-over paper cuts...

Weekly DIVA Challenge #387: "UMT - HaWy". One look at Hawy and I "turned the page". Hawy? Nowy! Then I read Margarete Gilge's post. Yes, even a trained perspective and geometric lines artist needed a few practice minutes under full concentration to get 'it'. And what an excellent free-hand Hawy she drew! So I dared....

...but decided that mine would be a free-spirited Hawy spiked with Hawy flowers. Me thinking that if I make a mistake, I can hide it!!!! Hence the flowers.

DIVA Challenge #387 with Tangle Patterns: Hawy, Nymph flowers
Tangle Patterns: Hawy, sort of Nymph

After I had done my 'free-spirited' Hawy I felt very much in the swing of Hawy and dared to do another one. Hence my Hawy zendala (again with flowers!).

Zenuari 2019 with day 24: Reticula and Fragments. Sunday morning while I was listening to the TV (I am often too busy watching it) I went through some of my sketches and came across a fragment I found on the net and had altered from square to triangle. I remembered Zenuari had a Fragment day, so I welcomed the sketch and started drawing. Once I had finished the tile I went to my Zenuari notes to check the day. "24" it said and it also said "RETICULA".

Oh!

I was so happy to be able to hook off another Zenauri day, but now I am back at the drawing board for day 24. That explains the 2 tiles here.

I am sorry I renamed the square fragment that already existed, but I can't find the original on the net anymore. If anyone has the link, please let me know in the comment section and I shall alter the name and text.

Here the 'no reticula' tile with the triangle fragment ST2 and tangles Petal Puddle, Backsplash Duo, and Indy-Rella.

Zenuari19 Day 24 with tangles Fragment ST2, Backsplash Duo, Petal Puddle, Indy-Rella
Tangle Patterns: Fragment ST2, Backsplash Duo, Petal Puddle, Indy-Rella

The mini tile definitely has a grid (C2) and the fragment C14 is definitely fragmented, too.

I have to add this video as it was in our local news... Thank you, Thai Rangers!

Thanks so much for visiting my post and enjoy the month of April - the hottest

My new Tangle Mock I.Am, DIVA 384, IAST 280; Square One; Refresher 194, 195, and a Valentine tile

My new Tangle

Mock I.AM

Tangle Pattern: Mock I.Am in a wonky grid
Tangle Pattern: Mock I.Am in a wonky grid

My "I.Am" tangle series is growing; "Mock" has joined the family. I introduced Mock I.Am on my blog the first time with my Zenuari 2019 tile for day 9 "New to me Tangles" (left). I guess I took the theme of the day a bit too literal (something I seem to do only too often) and sat down to actually produce a new tangle. I am a bit slow at drawing step outs and even slower at drawing sample tiles as I prefer to work on challenges, but I was finally able to kill that inner lazy me and officially introduce "Mock I.Am" to the world (LOL, how I love to dramatize things).

The first tile (under the title) is Mock I.Am in a wonky grid. The tile below shows Mock I.Am in ribbons with a Mock I.Am bug up in the corner.

Tangle Pattern: Mock I.Am ribbons and Mock I.Am bug
Tangle Pattern: Mock I.Am ribbons and Mock I.Am bug

I love to place tangles into leaves or petals, so Mock I.Am had to undergo the same treatment. The other tangles are Sunflower, Sinko, and Columbine.

Tangle Patterns: Mock I.Am as leaves with Sunflower, Sinko, Columbine
Tangle Patterns: Mock I.Am as leaves with Sunflower, Sinko, Columbine

Here are two tiles that look the same. I so desperately wanted to make a star or Zendala tile. I came up with three tiles in total. One, the first, went straight onto my pile of rejects (thanks to Anita Aspfors Westin inspirational blog "Oops" it will (hopefully, eventually, maybe) be remodeled on a later date), the second and third outputs still didn't hit the nail on the head so I decided to stop wasting time on this rather stupid idea (but they count as samples!!!) and just post them. On the green tile the D's are big as per pattern and in the other the D's are small and look like bow ties.

Mock I.Am Zendala or Star with the big D's
Tangle Pattern: Mock I.Am with big or normal D's

Mock I.Am Zendala or Star with the small D's
Tangle Pattern: Mock I.Am with small D's

....and of course, I had to do a bookmark with Mock I.Am. Here the D's turned into leaves.

Mock I.Am as a bookmark
Tangle Pattern: Mock I.Am

The basic Mock I.Am exists of lines, diamond shapes, D's and D's mirrored, V's, and commas. That's it. So here the step out:

Refresher #194 with tangles Snail, Flec, Iriemon, Satsu, Faux Weave. After finishing tile 1 I had to change the Faux Weave and Iriemon trail. I had to take these tangles out of their grid. Okay, maybe Iriemon in the newer tile in the leaves looks more like Betweed, but I used the suggested 3rd variation version by changing step 2 to / \.

ValenTangle 2019 had Love Fragment sort of as the feature tangle for the 2 weeks leading up to Valentine's Day Feb 14th. Not a particular 'hearts' tangler I decided to do ONE tile and one only with this fragment and for the occasion.

DIVA 381, 382, 383; IAST 277, 278; Square One; Zenuari19; Keep It Classic

Square One. I missed out on the last 3 SO temptations, so I had to combine them simply to be able to catch up. Life in the Zentangle fast lane is overtaking me lighting fast, making my head spin. I can't blame anybody. I love these challenges, temptations, inspirations, call it whatever you want and my fingers itch to do them all! Tangles: Zwieblbee from January 4th, CalligraV, January 11th, and Zenith from January 18th 2019.

DIVA challenge #381 sporting the theme: A Happy (new) Medium, meaning a new pen or paper. I didn't have anything new really, so I dismissed the challenge not thinking twice about it. Then yesterday I had to highlight a text and went to buy a highlighter. I ended up buying 4 different colors (blue, pink, green and yellow) as it dawned on me that I could use one or all of them for the DIVA challenge.

Zenuari 2019 - day 12: "Grid tangles only" with tangles Side-eye, Betwix'd, N, Florz, Knightsbridge, Insydeout, DL-Labyrinth and a bit of Pop-Cloud to fill the corners and to cover the sun. I know Pop-Cloud is not a grid tangle, but I didn't put it into the grid, so....tssss!

Paradox or Gourdgeous? Optical Illusion?

Zenuari 2019 - day 22: I took a huge leap towards the front of the end with day 22: Optical Illusions. I was certain I was going to skip this challenge, but then I did my first tile for Today'sTangles: Keeping it Classic (TTKICPrompt012119) from Jan 22 with the versatile tangle Paradox on green notepaper (duh, me, this invalidated it for the TTKIC challenge). However, after I finished the tile I noticed Paradox had turned into Gourdgeous! Ha! Thus I drew a second tile, this time on white paper (!) for TTKIC andthe green one got reassigned to Zenuari day 22. 2 hits with one prompt!

They have both the same string, but while the green has the original challenge string drawn with straight lines the string lines of the while tile are wavy.

Today's Tangle: Keep it Simple (TTKIC120119) Paradox

Apropos Optical Illusion. I found this "Extreme Confusion Reading Optical Illusion" on the net which I found quite amusing and wanted to share with you. Enjoy.

Zenuari 2019 - day 20: Maze. I made it. Another Zenuari day I was sure to skip because, honestly, Maze? Then Crabeye jumped to mind, the tangle that reminded me of my childhood when we played with the round handheld labyrinth containing 3 little marbles. I strongly believe Crabeye has the wrong name, it should be Maze.

Maybe ditching that bacon forever after watching this "Happy ever After" video?

And here another one I couldn't resist placing. If you are in the business of animal rescue, even if only your heart is, please check out this video so you know if you ever cross path with a thirsty pigeon.

Thanks for visiting and have a good one!

New Tangle As.I.Am, DIVA 378, Facebook stuff, Refresher

♻️ The theme of last week's Anything Goes Creative Prompt! is 'Livin' on the Edge' or tangle the edge of the tile. I thought fine, another easy one I better tangle on the smallest tile.. Then: well, maybe on a middle size tile...

I ended up drawing the tangle Garl on a normal tile and one of my favorite recycle choices: Toilet rolls.

Square One has Toodles on the menu for the week Dec 7-13. I love Toodles and I love Toodles. My first tile is Toodles with Clamz on a Sindoo background. My first tile drawn in the tangle-over-a-tangle style and I love it. I already made a list of tangles for backgrounds...

Some more Square One Toodles with Square One Barberpole from last week (which I missed) and background tangle Zanzee on toilet roll cardboard. This blue on brown paper may not be the greatest idea since sliced bread, but it was still fun to do.

Facebook's weekly Anything Goes as of Dec 12th with the Creative Prompt: "Spotlight on Pea-nuckle". Still no fan of Pea-nuckle (we had it several DIVA challenges ago, more precisely, July 2017 with DIVA #325) This time I wanted to do something else, so I made a Pea-Nuckle Zendala and a Pea-Nuckle flower. The flower tile is on a Dublin background and has Pea-Nuckle as a border as well.

Pea-Nuckle Zendala.

Pea-Nuckle in a circle as a flower and as a border with Henna Drum, Fescu, Flux and Dublin as background tangle. As for the color...didn't you know? I am totally and completely color blind and cannot be held responsible. But maybe having the same color for the background tangle and the main act might not be the best idea?.

My new Tangle: As.I.Am

...or should I call it a Fragment? As of late I feel like drawing lines, repetitively, not thinking, just the same over and over again. Sometimes the line result make no sense, sometimes it takes me by surprise and thus As.I.Am was born.

Step-out is simple: draw a shallow S curve into a square and add a little curve to each end of the S on top and bottom along the square. Or as per this image:

Animal Saddest Day unless....

A whole animal rescue operation/hospital in Spain,Viktor Larkhill's Let's Adopt International, an extreme cases rescue operation, will be closing down due to financial difficulties. That hurts!!! I have no Christmas wishes for myself. I have all I need to live a happy and content live. But there is somebody out there with a huge heart for animals that needs me/us now. Please, if you would watch the video below and if you think: "Yes, I can skip going out tomorrow night and send the money to Viktor instead", or "I don't really have to go to Starbuck every single morning" and you set up a little "Off Starbuck - On Viktor in Spain" piggy bank, here a link the PayPal (you can use your credit card if you have no PayPal account), and his GoFundMe page. Many thanks to all those donating any amount. Everything counts!

...and a quick mention of Shadow... or rather the before and after Shadow tile.

Last week I published below tile. In the middle of drawing it, my beloved Shadow died. I received an email from Meridiana from the Drawing from the Day website wherein she wrote, and I quote:

And your Shadow tile...I hesitate to say this because you may not see it, but I see the snout of a dog poking out on the lower left side of that tile.  Like a cartoon of a dog just beginning to stick his head out from under some piled-up blankets (the Narwhal).  I see the nose, a black circle, the "snout" and an open mouth.  From looking at the photos of Shadow you put up, it does seem that's exactly the type of shape of head he had.  (But it's like a cartoon of the shape, the way Mickey Mouse is a cartoon drawing of a mouse).  Do you see it?  I think Shadow left you a parting gift.
BTW - Meridiana was not the only one who saw it.

Now here the tile again - Now I see it, too!!! What a co-incidence.

This is my last post for this year. So I wish
all visitors and their families happy and joyful festive days.

C U again in 2019
